Offering professional domestic plastering... Have you used this tradesperson?  Very Disappointed - Customer satisfaction After reading the 'Very Disappointed' review Martin got in contact. He was upset to hear that his work had caused disappointment and wanted to make good any errors.
Martin did not agree that the quality of his workmanship led to the plastering blowing in places,he attributed this to condensation (there is no damp in the property)as a result of poor ventilation. Whilst we had different views about this Martin agreed to redo the problem areas at no extra cost. He came on time and completed the job within the specified time.
Martin has some decent qualities as a person and a plasterer. Our expectations were not quite met here but this may be just our experience. In choosing a trademan it is best to consider all reviews.

Unfortunately four years on we have discovered that sand and cement should have been used instead of the materials he used (according to a buildings expert) and we will have to get the job redone. Very disappointing.

Reviewed by d.finn on August 25, 2011 Excellent This was the second time we have used Martin. The first was to replaster a bedroom which was really complicated as previous owners had done a terrible job which left the ceiling at a bizarre angle. Martin fixed it perfectly.
This time round we needed a back wall to be re-rendered. Once again, Martin did an excellent job, always turned up on time, was hard-working, tidy and above all friendly. I'd have no problem recommending his services - an A+ tradesman!

Martin was really quick, thorough and efficient with his projects. The quotes were correct for the work and the area was left clean and tidy at the end of each day and at the end of the work. After a great experience in 2008 when we used Martin's plastering skills, we called on him again to tackle the tiling of some bathrooms and a small hallway. We had bought some beautiful natural slate tiles without realising how difficult it would be to lay a tile that had such varying heights, not to mention the amount of dust that they created!
Martin did an amazing job and we were so impressed with the time, effort and skill he put into achieving such a perfect level floor with such a challenging natural tile. We cannot recommend Martin highly enough. Martin should be top of your list for any plastering and tiling jobs.

Martin was sympathetic to the urgency of the situation and, with his plumber mate, fitted us in quickly (and managed to retain a sense of humour about the home birth kit waiting downstairs...). Work done: tiling shower enclosure, matching up with existing tiling round bath, removing/replacing bath and resealing. He was punctual, efficient and cleaned up (especially appreciated when you can't reach the floor!). Tiling looks good. We didn't have time to shop around for quotes, but Martin's cost was in the middle of the range we'd expected. Overall, very happy to recommend Martin - we'd be happy to use him again. Thanks, Martin - the first shower was blissful!

I obtained a number of quotes and went with Martin as, in addition to his quote being compettitively priced, I also felt comfortable that he knew what he was talking about & was keen to do a good job. This involved breaking up and removing the old concrete base, re-concreting, and laying/grouting the new tiles. Martin did a fantastic job. He arrived promptly, charged exactly what he'd quoted, and took all the rubble away. He even returned the extra tiles because he happened to be going by that way the next day! We would definitely use him again if we needed something, and we recommend his services unreservedly.

After reading Joy's review i contacted her in order to discuss her comments. As with all my clients i always state that if any problems occur once a job is finished which turn out to be down to me, i will always go back & rectify them free of charge. Therefore i arranged to have a look at the job again. In the 4 years since the job there have been problems with damp on the window wall & Joy was under the impression that not only had i skimmed the wall but that i had rendered it too. This was not the case. I was not asked to render as there was already perfectly good render on the walls. Nevertheless in order to help out, i offered to hack off & re-render the wall where necessary & this showed that the walls underneath were perfectly dry & the render was doing its job. The damp was therefore being caused by internal condensation due to the windows being metal framed, causing high volumes of water which have been running down the glass over the years. I am currently in the process of re-rendering the wall with a waterproof render. However i have stressed to Joy that there is no guarantee that the damp will not return in a few years time unless she tackkles the underlying problem of the windows. I am disappointed that Joy did not feel able to contact me personally in the first instance to resolve this & instead felt the need to post this inaccurate review. However, the issue is now resolved & Joy has agreed to retract her comments.
