  • Cellar and Ground Floor damp proofing
I am really happy to have finally found a good building company who are willing to work within a budget to get the best possible result. David and Ilir were very communicative and helpful in assessing what work was needed. Everything was carried out in a very efficient and transparent manner. Ilir and the guys were always punctual and hard-working, with an extensive knowledge in all areas of building and decorating. The team overall were excellent and I will definitely go back to them in the future. Thoroughly recommended!

  • Transformed my house!
David and his friendly hard working team transformed my house from run down and shabby looking to a beautiful clean, bright and freshly painted house I call a home! I used David and his team to replace my gutters a couple of months ago and the service and work carried out was really great so I got them back to do the exterior painting of my semi-detached property. I was really impressed with David's level of service - a great 'can do' and 'happy to help' attitude. I was also really impressed with how hard working his team were. Everyday they turned up on time and worked solidly all day (outside in the freezing cold I might add) to transform my house. Thank you!

  • damp proofing my kitchen
Last year I used Up Top Down Below to tackle a leaking roof. They did the work very efficiently but as a result of the leaks the kitchen beneath this roof needed damp proofing. This work was done in May 2012. In the interim Up Top Down Below lent me a humidifier at no charge, to help dry out the damp. I have no hesitation in recommending David Barouch and his company. Their work is very professional, they do what they say they are going to do and clear up afterwards.

  • Repair and replace damp woodwork
Internal door frames in basement flat had rotted away at the bottom due to damp, also some localised damp in kitchen wall. David gave me a detailed and prompt specification of each part of the work for treatment and repair of wood and plastering in kitchen. His guys completed to a high standard, leaving everything clean and tidy. Some very minor finishing imperfections, hence the 9, but nothing that would stop me recommending.

  • Shoreditch bathrooms & kitchen refurb plus additional extras
Brief initially was to refurbish two bathrooms, kitchen and hallway, with suspended ceilings and new lighting, and new flooring throughout. Eventually also included complete rewiring of flat and some structural steelwork. Bathrooms and kitchen required completely new plumbing and installation of new suites, new suspended ceilings and lighting, ventilation, electrical works and wall and floor tiling. All works completed to good standard, and we were kept informed of progress on site by Ilir and David, with any issues dealt with quickly and showing good problem solving skills to surmount obstacles. We would have no hesitation in recommending Up Top Down Below.

  • Humidity extract fan installation, ceiling replacement, making good and decoration works and front garden facelift
Prior to commencing works a good value quotation was received for 3 isolated ares of required works, all to be carried out while the ground floor flat was being lived in - therefore maximum cleanliness paramount. The first area was cutting down the damaged ceiling over the kitchen area of the kitchen/lounge area and replacing/making good and then decorating the new ceiling. The removal of the old and replacement with the new was carried out very quickly and efficiently and the mess was tidied up as work proceeded. The second area was to install 3 No. humidity extraction units in 3 different rooms. To make this process easier existing air brick locations were used, but still, a vey tidy job, both inside and out (making good and tidying up as they went along). The third area was demolishing and removing an old brick wall in the front garden, preparing for a new wall in the same location and adjacently, and to break out existing concrete to the front of the property, level out and make good with new aggregate. All of these works were carried out quickly where needed and effectively. The bricklayer brought in specifically for this task did a good tidy job, and to ensure the work was all completed on time the builders stayed well in to the evening so as not to leave a half-finished wall in place. The builders on site were very friendly and pro-active in helping and seeking advice if they had any queries before carrying out any of the works. A couple of further items of work were found during the build and these were priced fairly and works carried out to the same original deadline given by myself due to business related travel. I am now happy to say that I know a builder in the London area that I will have no doubt in recommending to others and that I will happily use again in the future.

I have been living abroad and in returning to the UK I took back my property from a letting agent and found it in a dreadful state. The hall ceiling had collapsed following water damage from the bathroom and had been really badly repaired. Communications were good from both David and his team both by email and phone. • Building Refurbishment in East Dulwich
We have a Victorian terraced house in East Dulwich which has been rented out for the last 4 years as we have been abroad and are now renting in the West Country. The property was very tired and had not been truely finished from when we first bought it. We needed to get a lot of work done in 2 weeks between tenants and with very limited over-sight on our part. David Barouch, and his foreman Ilir, proved to be exceptionally helpful, providing useful tips and accurate quotes throughout. The work included; changing carpets and underlays, sanding parquet floors, laying decking in the garden, clearing various garden debris, re-decorating exterior walls and windows of house, cleaning and where necessary replacing guttering, re-decorating and making good internal walls and skirting. It was all done to a very good standard and on time. David and Ilir consulted us throughout and if they uncovered additional problems (minor leaks around windows and roof amongst others) discussed any necessary further work required with decent quotes. At no time did we feel we were being taken advantage of as they discussed all new issues honestly and realistically. My wife could only see David and Ilir once for the initial quote, once during the work and once on completion, yet we very quickly developed complete confidence in David and Ilir. They both ensured what could potentially have been a very stressful time was as painless as possible. In conclusion; honest builders who remained within the quotes, completed all work on time and proved very helpful throughout. I would happily use them again.

  • We've used UpTop DownBelow twice now, once for work mainly in the back garden, and then building an extension. Dave ensures he gets good craftsman and comes in personally to ensure the work is properly done and discuss the job. He acts immediately on any points we had, but also spotted things we hadn't even noticed and ensured they were put right. The workers do some great jobs, and really went the extra mile to clear up the site just before the family arrived for Xmas, for example.

In both instances the work has been carried out to a high standard and we have been very happy with the results. David's team are always hard working. They arrive on time, are polite, tidy and just get on with the job (no loud radios on all day!). Where there have been some issues, David has dealt with them immediately and to our satisfaction. • Up Top Down Below have done a number of projects for me over the past few years. My wife and I have high expectations, but have always been happy with the work (I am long term reapt customer). David Barouch is responsive and has always made sure that we were happy with the work we paid for, even if it meant that the workmen had to return and redo part of the work. I have found him to be helpful, responsible and available when needed. Up Top is not the cheapest but worth the additional cost. I certainly recommend the company.

  • David and his team have done for damp proof work in our outside area. We are a Nursery School and because of children, safety and quality of work was our priority for this project. We have searched for a number of different suppliers but their professional aproach was the main reason for our choice. Afterwards we have requested their services for plaster and tile work in our children's toilet as well, which is a recommendation in itself. They were very considerate of the environment and of the children, and all work was finished to perfection. I can recommend this company in full confidence.

I obtained a number of quoations beforehand from a range of suppliers but what impressed me about 'Up Top down Below' was their professional, no nonsense approach and I had confidence in their judgement. The work was carried out according to plan, on time and on budget. At one point during the damp proofing work they discovered another problem and made sure they explained it fully to me and I understood what the extra work and cost beforehand - so there were 'no surprises', which I appreciated. I would wholeheartedly recommend this company to others.
