We've just finished a set of bookcases and TV cabinets for a young couple near Potters Bar, a combination of fitted and free-standing pieces, including our crescent-shaped shelves for the corners that televisions tend to find themselves in. One room had a free-standing version, while the other had a smaller fitted version, along with an arch-shaped bookcase going over the sofa and providing side-tables as well as a lot of book storage.
Another recent project was in a peculiar modern space in Shoreditch, fairly extreme cabinetmaking, as the"floor" the long wardrobe stands on is actually a 45 degree slope to the front, the reverse of the sloping eves problem found in many loft extensions now filling the roof spaces of London.
The workshop is overflowing with pieces of a cat-food trolley, another arch bookcase ( in this case also a radiator cover), a number of wardrobe doors large and small, a couple of alcove cabinets due to go into an Islington home later next week and various wardrobe, drawer and door components, including the latest "soft-close" drawer runners.
In the pipeline are some oak-fronted "floating " shelves, a long bookcase with hi-fi storage designed about six months ago, some eves wardrobes and a complex alcove cabinet, designed to match an existing cabinet already in place.
