Unfortunately, our boiler engineer attended to this job without knowing that the boiler was effectively decommissioned and had not been in use for a number of months; which meant it was very difficult for him to diagnose every problem which was present. He diagnosed the seals, as these where visibly damaged; however, only once the boiler was refilled, serviced and left up and running did it become apparent later that the drain valve and AAV were faulty. This could not have been identified prior to the boiler being fully functional. We regret that these issues could not have been foreseen during or prior to his visit, and that you felt let down by the engineer as a result. Thank you for raising the points regarding our response to your issue; we’re always striving to improve how quickly we react to customers’ queries. We are always striving to improve our customer service, and have passed your comments on to our head of customer service. We're always looking out for the fairest way to charge customers - and will take your thoughts into consideration as we continue to try to improve our charging structure in the future. Collection of materials does require our engineers to visit local suppliers, so is unfortunately chargeable; we found that charging the half-hourly rate for the work completed including collection of the replacement part was the most cost efficient way to proceed in your case.
