Long established home improvement and roofing company, we have branches in Ayrshire and Livingston and specialise in PVC Roofline systems, Single Ply Flat Roofing Systems and A Rated Double Glazing.
Have you used this tradesperson? Waterproofing garage roof I share a garage with my neighbour, he did not wish to have this work undertaken, so my contract with Craftsman Cladding was for only my half of a seriously leaking garage roof. I was told that:
We will clean all of the debris from the roof area.
Then we will inspect the roof and where required we will apply a high build re-enforced coating to any cracks / holes in the corrugated panels.
We will then apply a coating of Liquid Rubber to a thickness of 2 – 3mm over the entire roof area.
We will also replace the fascia boards around the three sides, using 19mm thick white UPVC boards.
We will also install new gutters and down-pipe to the front of the garage too.
Installation would be 2 days.
The installation took one afternoon. The workmen did not cover all of my part of the roof, there is no improvement to the extent of the roof leaking, but now there is some sort of deposit which is causing considerable staining to my car when it rains. I first complained on 5/11/11 that the work had not been completed to a satisfactory standard. I have emailed the "product specialist", phoned the company, and now emaied the directors - they seem to have got fed up with my complaints, because since before Christmas they have ignored my attempts to contact them.
I would love to follow up this review with a more positive one, either to say that the remedial work has been done and I finally have a waterproof garage, or at least that I have received a refund, then I could arrange for someone reliable and capable to carry out the work.
Meantime, frankly, 1 is a generous score, but the site does not allow any lower. I can only assume the company has gone into serious decline since the previous reviewer in 2010.

Reviewed by Anne Beattie on January 7, 2012 Fitting of roofline barge boards, soffits, gutters and downpipes To reduce the maintenance burden, I had Craftsman cladding fit UPVC barge boards, soffits, gutters and downpipes to my 20 year old house. The first day was rained off as the weather was dreadful. However, at least the fitters turned up when expected. They unloaded their ladders and all the materials and waited. The rain did not abate, so they left to come back the following day.
Before they left, they pointed out that my downpipes were blocked below ground level. This gave me a chance to get them cleaned out and rodded clear before they returned.
Day 2, While removing cladding beneath a bedroom that projected to the front of the house, I asked if they could leave it open for a short while, while I stuffed some slabs of polystyrene insulation into the gap as the original builder had not done so during the construction. They offered to do it for me as it was a minor disturbance to their work. Very nice!
Work proceeded quickly, cleanly and, according to my wife, they were very polite and no problem. On my return from work, I noted that a downpipe was not as vertical as I would like. I left a note for them and it was sorted the next day without any discussion or hastle.
The job was completed in 3 days and everything was perfect, with the exception of one hopperhead on a drain from the balcony. They had had to reuse the original as they did not have a new one.
I Phoned Craftsman to bring this to their attention and I was advised by the manager that they did not have one available, it was on order and they will fit it as soon as its received. I suggested that, to save them the journey from Mauchline for a £7 piece pf plastic, that they could fit it when they complete my neighbour's house. Work on my neighbour's house had been suspended as house martins were nesting and they thought it better not to disturb them until they fledged.
When asked if I was satisfied I said I was perfectly satisfied but having seen how nice the house looked, I wished that I had had some cladding fitted to the small white arches that are above the double garage doors. I asked if he could give me some offcuts to do it myself. The manager said, "if that mkes your house look better then it will make our products look better, we'll fit it when we return to fit the hopper head" I offered to pay, but he said there would be no extra charge and that his fitters would fit it for me!
I'm fairly picky about what tradesmen do but I have no problem in recommending this company. The salesmen was non-pushy, the fitters were good, worked flexibly around our needs and they helped me by fitting the insulation, thus saving me time and working at height. Those little things make all the difference between an average contractor and a great one.
I'm the 5th person in our street to use this company and everyone has had a similar experience. They must be getting something right.
