  • Out of pocket
Last year me and my partner decided to get a quote from Thomas sanderson for 3 shutters in our home. The salesman arrived and began his demonstration and at the end quoted us 6000 pounds for the shutters. After a bartering session the price was reduced to 3300 pounds. Looks good, but I am not forgetting that if I didnt barter, he would have gladly taken an extortionate amount of money from me without hesitation. We set up a finance agreement and paid a small deposit. The salesman told us that this agreement was interest free for a six month period. He also informed us of a way to pay off the agreement early without incurring extra charges. He also asked that we dont pay off the balance too early, as he only gets a certain sum of money after us holding the credit agreement for a period of time. Because we were under the illusion that it was interest free for a set period it seemed only fair. This month was approaching the 6 months period so I called the finance company to get a settlement quote. And discovered that the agreement was not interest free at all,for any period of time and after 6 months of 61 pounds per month payments, plus an initial payment I have only reduced my amount by little over 100 pounds. I rang the company to voice my concerns, and they said that I am best taking it up with the salesman. Why I would want to discuss a complaint with the person I was complaining about was beyond me, as it seemed It would not go anywhere. They passed on my number and said he would contact me within 48hrs. That time passed so I called again. We went through the same process and was again told to talk with him. I informed them that I would prefer to voice my concerns with someone else who could take this further and offer a resolution to my problem and they passed my number to the salesmans boss. Another 48 hours have passed and still no calls. This wasnt the only lie told by the pushy sales person. If you are thinking of getting blinds from this company it would be wise to apply critical thought to their outlandish claims. You certainly are not getting "what you pay for" even after discount, The blinds are not made to the Millimeter and you can fully expect that any correspondence after money has exchanged hands will be of a vastly poor standard compared with the correspondence you will receive post transaction.

  • Taken for €6500 on Blinds
My mother and father decided to get Thomas Sanderson to fit blinds in their concervorty at a cost of €6500 which is more then they originaly payed for the concervatory. During the sales visit and fitting stage they were told cleaning was not a problem everything just wipes off including mildue which may happen due to condinsation. when they seen some mildue starting to form they tryed wiping them down with no look. They contacted Thomas Sanderson to get some advice. This was 3years ago. There final answer came today which is we have no guarntes about mildue so there is nothing we can do for you. However if you want us to send out an enginere to take them down we will give you a reduction on the normal price. I feel people should no that all these blinds are fit for at this stage is the bin. And please keep in mind they are not even 4 years old yet.

  • Appalling, harassed by their employee
A member of my family had unfortunately responded to a marketing call made to my home and since then we have been inundated with calls from Thomas Sanderson by the same incredibly rude and condescending person, sometimes three times a day. When told a family member was not home he has implied he has been lied to and has made personal comments which were completely inappropriate such as "You sound like you're in pain" The final straw came at 8.30 one evening after several calls in one day. When I asked this "sales-person" to stop calling, he point-blank refused and said he'd attempt to speak to somebody else at another point. . Then he hung up the phone before I could respond. Since then he has been ringing up my home and hanging up the phone when I have answered. His tone throughout these unsolicited calls has been agressive, condescending and even intimidating. Whilst I realise this employee may not be representative of all sales tactics carried out by Thomas Sanderson I have been very upset and harassed by this employees action. I would not advise using any services of this company to anybody as it seems they allow their employees to act in a criminal manner.

  • silhouette blinds and shutters
Had 7 "silhouette" blinds and 2 shutters fitted to my house on 11/7/11. After reading thier web page and studying thier brouchure we had a salesman come round. the price i considered excessive but my wife wanted the blinds. We had consevatry blinds from them 11 years ago without problems. As we were lead to believe the blinds would be manufactured to the milimeter and looked forward to the fittting. i spoke to the installer when i noticed the "silhouette" did not fit the window reveal to the milimeter. I was told they they built in 10 mm tolerance into thier measurements. I sid I never agreed to this and wanted my blinds to fit the window reveal pefectly. I was told this was not possible. The fitter finished his work but I never paid the balance. I was contacted by fitting manager to discuss my complaints, he repeated the same mantra as the fitter. Things got heated. He agreed that two of the blinds were wrong and new one's would be ordered, one had been cut too short and the other had a gap of 15mm at the top. He would not agree to any other replacements. The shutter in my lounge was fitted with a door so warped that it did not touch the magnet at the top, and the shutter in my office had three faults in the door. These he to put right. I was made to sign of form that stated that after this work was carried out that was the end of my complaint. They would not proceed without this form being signed. I am now awaiting a call from another manager to put to him my complaint. In short if you think you are getting blind from this company that fits your window perfectly, you won't.

  • Problems with Thomas Sanderson
I recently ordered some shutters from Thomas Sanderson which weren't cheap at £2,500. After paying my £100 deposit I found out several of the details of the order were incorrect - the price, the colour, the actual shape of the shutters themselves. The sales guy was totally unhelpful quoting me random prices and not giving me any faith that I was being charged correctly or that my order was right. Similar story from the sales manager who was put on the case to rectify it - he was 45 minutes late and then did nothing for over 6 weeks and even then I didn't know if what i was being charged was correct. When I felt I had lost all faith with Thomas Sanderson I rang to cancel my order only to be told that the £100 is never returned to customers no matter what the situation (i.e. even if they mess up at every stage). If I wasn't absolutely sure I was cancelling that really put the nail in the coffin. I was strongly urge anyone considering ordering with them to be very careful.
